It also helps to read the salary numbers for your favorite technology companies. At the end of the day, a law degree or a tech degree will certainly pay well. But in the end, it’s your salary that’s important.
So what about those other things that will pay well, like a degree in business or accounting or medicine? For many of them, those are things like consulting, teaching, and administrative work that pay well. But the average salary for a lawyer is well over $100,000 per year, and a lot of people with a law degree are making more than twice that amount.
For some people, a law degree will pay well. For others, it won’t. For many, the cost of the degree may not be worth it. But for those of us in the legal profession, we’re not talking about a few hundredK or even a million dollars a year, we’re talking about making a living wage.
How do you figure that? If you have a legal degree, you can always get a job as a lawyer. And most lawyers make a good living in the field. If you don’t have a legal degree, you can always go for a degree in another field, like business, economics, engineering, or something else. It all comes down to what you want to do, and what makes you happy.
In tech, we seem to be in a bit of a rut. We often have conflicting goals. We want to be successful. We want to have a job. We want to be on the fast track to a job. We want to be on the company’s radar screen. We want to be on a conference panel. We want to be the next hot thing. But there are times when our work just doesn’t fit into the above categories.
In our current culture, it seems as if everyone is trying to get into the tech industry. Which we are. We are the ones who are trying to be the next big thing. But the current tech culture is a very narrow mindset. It has a very narrow set of skillsets. And that narrow set of skillsets leads to a narrow set of opportunities. Because while we have many opportunities in the tech industry, we are very selective about those opportunities.
Our job is a mix of legal, finance, and technology. We get to work with all of these things to help make sure their roles align in a way that allows our team to be successful. Of course, this isnt always easy. We have to keep a very close eye on how we are spending our time, and we have to be sure that we are not overworking in any one area in order to keep things balanced.
Technically, we are also the most privileged team in the tech industry. We have a very high pay rate, and our technology lawyers are also very high paid. While we are a relatively small team, we have a lot of power and influence. Our clients are extremely important to us. We are often the last team on a project to know what we are doing and how we are doing it.
Technically we do not have the best technology lawyers, but they are still very high paid, and we do a lot of work together. At the end of the day, we are always trying to ensure that we have the best technology lawyers available to us.
This is the first time since I started freelancing that I have had to explain to a client how I work. I have tried to take some time to really dive into our business, but so far it hasn’t been able to get into the depth that I hoped.
